To: London Borough of Harrow Council
We, the undersigned residents and road users, call on Harrow Council to urgently inspect and fully repair the dangerous road surface on Tyrell Road, Harrow-on-the-Hill.
Why this matters
The condition of Tyrell Road has significantly deteriorated and now poses a serious safety risk. The road surface is heavily cracked and uneven, with a large pothole and areas of subsidence running across the carriageway. In places, the underlying material is exposed.
The damage appears to be exacerbated by tree root growth, which has lifted and fractured the tarmac, and by an uneven manhole cover that sits proud of the surrounding road surface. These defects are not minor and extend across a wide section of the road.
Impact on residents and road users
- Creates a trip hazard for pedestrians
- Poses a high risk to cyclists and motorcyclists
- Increases the likelihood of vehicle damage
- Particularly dangerous in poor weather and low-light conditions
- Likely to worsen without prompt intervention
What we are calling for
We urge Harrow Council to:
- Carry out an urgent highways inspection of Tyrell Road
- Undertake proper resurfacing and reinstatement of the road
- Address tree-root related damage in coordination with tree management services
- Ensure the manhole cover is re-levelled and made flush with the carriageway
