Harrow on the Hill Labour Councillors announce new alley-gates in ward to help community combat anti-social behaviour and fly-tipping

  • Harrow on the Hill Labour Councillors secured funding through community infrastructure levy to install new alley-gates
  • Residents finally listened to as Harrow Council fails to contain spread of anti-social behaviour and fly-tipping

Harrow on the Hill Ward Councillors are pleased to announce that new Alley Gates have been installed on the Cavendish Avenue Service Road, following concerns raised by local residents. The gates, funded by Ward Councillors NCIL, were installed earlier this year at the following locations:

• Behind 159 Greenford Road, HA1 3QN

• Behind 161 Greenford Road, HA1 3RA

The installation aims to help reduce incidents of trespassing, fly-tipping, and anti-social behaviour by restricting access to residents and businesses with access rights. Residents and businesses are reminded to keep the gates locked and to inform delivery providers of access arrangements.

Since their installation, residents have noted a marked improvement with far fewer incidents of anti-social behaviour and fly-tipping on their streets.

Ward Councillor Stephen Hickman said:

“We listened to residents’ concerns and acted. These service roads have long been a hotspot for fly-tipping and other anti-social activities, which residents have had to put up with for a considerable time. These gates are a step forward in making our neighbourhood safer and cleaner. They will make it more difficult for fly-tipping and ASB to occur in these service roads behind the shops. However, they will not solve the challenges of ASB alone and we will continue to campaign for more to be done to tackle fly-tipping, street drinking and drug-taking around Greenford Road.”
