Roxbourne Labour Councillors have celebrated the construction of new playground equipment in their ward at Newton Park West, paid for through a successful bid for funds from ward NCIL (National Community Infrastructure Levy). Councillors have invested over £55,000 in the park this year to improve facilities at the park and provide a deprived area of Harrow desperately needed family-oriented infrastructure.
Councillors are hopeful that the new playground equipment will encourage families to visit the park more frequently, helping to improve health and wellbeing, both mental and physical, for both parents and children who live in the area. The new equipment installed includes a swing set, a climbing frame and a see-saw
Maxine Henson, Labour Councillor for Roxbourne ward, said of the investment and construction:
“I am thrilled to announce the construction of new playground equipment in Newton Park West which will make the park more attractive to local residents and families alike. Levels of mental and physical health are both declining in Harrow at the moment, and young families need all the support they can get- so we are glad to be supporting our residents by providing this play equipment to give kids a chance to play and socialise while their parents relax on nearby picnic benches.
As the local ward Councillors, we will continue working with local residents seeking long term improvements to the park and ponds, turning this once-neglected space into an attractive and welcoming park for all.”
