Labour Councillor for Edgware Ward, Nitin Parekh, has seen his struggle to introduce new road safety measures to Mollison Way finally rewarded. After months of petitioning Harrow Council, Mollison Way has finally had speed humps installed and a 20-mile-per-hour speed limit introduced following a long campaign to support local concerns from residents.
Following the road traffic fatality of a resident in Mollison Way and numerous collisions, residents living on the road demanded action, leading Councillor Nitin Parekh to petition the Council unceasingly to act to protect local residents on the roads, including passing pedestrians.
Councillor. Nitin Parekh said:
“I am proud of the work we have done as a community to pressure Harrow Council into taking action on the important issue of speeding in Edgware Ward. Residents of Mollison Way and surrounding roads can now walk about their area without fear of reckless speeding putting them in harm’s way. I’m proud that Labour Councillors can work so effectively with the local community to get positive results for us all following locals raising numerous concerns. I am always available should local residents have other road safety concerns elsewhere in Edgware Ward.
Following concerns expressed by residents, Councillor Nitin Parekh is now following up on this case by assessing the need for changing the size of the speed humps to improve their effectiveness, and the negative effects of vibrations on surrounding properties.
